Télécom Paris Strengthens its Ties with Indonesia

Last January, Télécom Paris traveled to Indonesia alongside ENSTA and Naval Group, the sponsor of the 2023 graduating class of our engineering program. The objective of this visit was to develop academic and scientific collaborations with Indonesia, in the context of the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between France and Indonesia.

Télécom Paris met with teams responsible for the scientific, technological, and academic sectors at the French Embassy in Indonesia.

Visits were also conducted at the three top Indonesian universities in our fields:

Additionally, two meetings were held with teams from Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN*) to explore potential collaborations.

This mission represents a decisive step in strengthening ties between Indonesia and Télécom Paris. Our school already has academic partnerships with Indonesian institutions through FICEM and a research connection via the FEFr funding program on Transdisciplinary Research Strategy on Crisis Management & Population Resilience, obtained by Prof. Caroline Rizza, a faculty member specializing in Information and Communication Sciences.

The various discussions helped identify several opportunities for academic mobility and research, paving the way for promising future collaborations. We look forward to sharing the concrete projects that will emerge from these exchanges.

* BRIN (Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency) has brought together all of the country’s research centers since 2021.

** FICEM (French-Indonesian Consortium for Engineering and Management) brings together eight major engineering and management schools from Institut Mines-Télécom and ten Indonesian universities. It is the first consortium of its kind between France and Indonesia, established in 2015.

*** FEFr (Fonds Équipe France) is a funding mechanism that supports projects aimed at developing or strengthening local ecosystems for the benefit of local populations.

Télécom Paris strengthens its cooperation ties with Singapore

As part of its international partnership strategy, Télécom Paris traveled to Singapore in January 2025. This mission helped advance several key projects and enrich our exchanges with our renowned Singaporean partners.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Constructive discussions took place to establish non-degree mobility programs in both directions, which could include:

  • Semester- or year-long study exchanges
  • Research internships in a laboratory

Shortly after this mission, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April 2024, a delegation from the College of Science at NTU visited the IP Paris campus to further strengthen scientific collaborations.

National University of Singapore (NUS)

During a dedicated meeting on the French–NUS Double Degree Programme (FDDP), discussions highlighted positive momentum, reflected in growing student interest and a promising reorganization of the program.

We also presented Télécom Paris, focusing on the engineering curriculum relevant to the program, and—alongside alumni—answered questions from NUS students.

Currently pursuing a Master by Research at the School of Computing, Quentin Roussel and Hamza Zarfaoui, both enrolled in the double degree program, shared their positive experiences regarding the quality of education and their successful integration into student associations. Hamza is even considering starting his professional career in Singapore, showcasing the added value of this program within the Télécom Paris engineering degree.

Institutional support from the French Embassy

The mission continued with discussions at the French Embassy in Singapore. A meeting was held with the presence of H.E. Mr. Stephen Marchisio, French Ambassador to Singapore, Ms. Emilienne Baneth-Nouailhetas, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action, and Ms. Camille Bruni, University Cooperation Attaché. The importance of the projects with NUS and NTU was reaffirmed, along with France’s institutional commitment to these collaborations.

This mission to Singapore illustrates our ambition to open new perspectives in academic mobility and research. Together with our Singaporean partners, we aim to promote excellence, cooperation, and innovation.

What is FDDP? Télécom Paris, alongside CentraleSupélec, École des Ponts ParisTech, École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, and Mines Paris – PSL, has established a double degree agreement with the National University of Singapore (NUS): the French–NUS Double Degree Programme (FDDP).

This agreement allows Télécom Paris students to study at one of Asia’s top institutions, earning a Master’s degree from NUS in addition to their French engineering degree. In return, Télécom Paris welcomes NUS students into its engineering program as part of the double degree exchange.
