ATHENS Week

Nearly 400 incoming and outgoing exchanges!

The ATHENS session (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network) began on Monday, November 18, 2024. This flagship European mobility program brings together 2,480 students worldwide for the November session. At Télécom Paris, we are thrilled to welcome 149 participants, including 129 international students, while 235 of our engineering students, 129 of whom are heading abroad, embark on their studies at prestigious partner institutions. Both the number of international students hosted and the number of students going abroad have significantly increased compared to last year.

The ATHENS network includes 15 of the top European sciences and technology universities and 8 leading French engineering schools. This initiative offers students a unique opportunity: an intensive week of courses at a partner institution, enriched by cultural activities, with credits validated as part of the ECTS system.

Significant International Participation by Télécom Paris Students

The ATHENS Week is a highlight of student life at Télécom Paris. We encourage our students to seize the opportunities provided by the ATHENS network, which contributes to fulfilling the international mobility semester requirement of the engineering curriculum.

The most popular destinations are:

  • Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic)
  • Universidad Politécnica in Madrid (Spain)
  • Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon (Portugal)

A significant portion of students remaining in France are international students, who can only take courses within France. They often choose to study at partner schools such as AgroParisTech, Mines Paris – PSL, or École nationale des ponts et chaussées, or they may choose to stay at Télécom Paris.

Télécom Paris is proud to play an active role in this prestigious European network and delighted to welcome students from across Europe for this unique and enriching experience. We are confident that this Athens Week will also allow our own students to make the most of this academic and cultural immersion.

Learn More About the ATHENS Network

The ATHENS program, established in 1997, promotes the exchange of students, researchers, and faculty among leading European institutions. Its flagship activity is a program of intensive one-week courses hosted by each member institution.
Télécom Paris participates in the session held during the third week of November. Each session includes 30 hours of intensive coursework and 10 to 15 hours of cultural activities. The sessions are assessed and validated for 2 or 3 ECTS credits.
