The ability to communicate, intervene and interact in an accurate, appropriate and relevant manner in an international context is an essential element in the training of tomorrow’s engineers. Culture influences the behaviour, perceptions and values of the members of an international team, so cultural awareness and the acquisition of intercultural skills are a key factor in their career success and personal development. To obtain an engineering degree at Télécom Paris, students must master three languages to varying degrees, including English and French.
The Languages and Cultures Department (LC) provides future engineers with comprehensive training in ten languages
With some forty nationalities represented at the school, it enjoys a wide range of cultural and linguistic diversity. The Language and Cultures Department draws on this diversity to develop its courses. We offer a wide range of courses focusing on academic and professional life, intercultural exchange and societal challenges.
The Languages and Cultures Department has two major focuses:
- General courses according to CEFR level
- Courses on specific topics and projects
- Bilingual courses
- Induction activities for non-French-speaking students in collaboration with the International Relations Department and the Student Union
- Intercultural training in collaboration with other departments at the school
- Helping students prepare for external certification
- Helping students prepare for the recruitment process in a foreign language
- Collaboration within the school as well as with other partner institutions
- Welcoming non-French-speaking staff in collaboration with the Human Resources Department
- Professional training in German, English, Spanish, and French
- Intercultural training in collaboration with other IMT institutions
