The new frontier in quantum computing
Romain Alléaume, professor, June 2023.
Romain Alléaume’s research focuses on quantum information and cryptography. He is currently working on the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure project, which aims to secure the most sensitive data and communications.

The challenge of scaling up
… that is not just that of the laboratory but that of the real world (…) It is becoming possible to industrialise quantum technologies.
The challenge is to scale up and make these technologies scalable, which means reducing costs, mastering the technologies and hybridising them with conventional technologies (…).
This is an exciting time, with quantum systems beginning to operate with ten or twenty particles: quantum networks can be deployed over several hundred kilometres (…) Today, prototype quantum computers are beginning to rival conventional computers. We call this the computational advantage.
Hybridising classical and quantum
Quantum Secure Network Partnership
… on quantum communications began in March 2023. More than 40 European players are involved, including IP Paris and Télécom Paris, via the LTCI laboratory, where we are working on combining quantum technologies with digital technologies.
